This Week I am Grateful for… The Gym!

This week, I am grateful for…

The Gym!

No, I am not really thinking THIN THIN THIN THIN THIN when I am on the treadmill, but it was a pretty funny picture of Usagi!

Last week was kind of a disater, I had my absolute worse incounter in retail, my hours have been dropped, and I’ve been feeling quite lousy.

But one of the highlights this week is finally joining the Virgin Active Gym.

This is the gym I have wanted to join for ages, and  I tell you, I feel great about it. I went twice yesterday, before and after work, and today, I don’t feel tired or sluggish and unfit.

I have always felt bad about not moving. But I had never found anything that inspired me. People kept telling me to play a sport, take a walk outside, or do the Wii Fit every day, but they didn’t understand. I would do this for a few days and loose interest.

That is the key to getting me moving, keeping my interest, making me WANT to do it.

Walking is boring, doing the same thing every time is boring, sport is boring, to me.

But the gym for me, is full of excitement, there are so many machines, and so many classes and so many things I can do. I love it!

And I love that my boyfriend is doing this with me.

He joined up to the gym because of me, and because of himself, because he wanted something to releave stress. We went to the gym together on his first session, and it was great having him there, having fun!

I also need to be watched by strangers when I work out.

If I am around people working out, it drives me to go better and harder. If I have a thirty minute goal on my treadmill screen, and I have someone next to me, then I’ll feel bad if I can go for only twenty five, so I go the full thirty! Do you get what I mean?

Plus being around other people, large and small, who are getting fit. It well, inspires you!

And do you know what? I feel better already!

My trainer who prepared my routine for me, said my goal of loosing 14.8kg (13 now!), was a real and achievable goal! That 6 months was more than enough time to loose it, and that with just a few changes, and regular session, that it was easy.

And he also told me about a woman he trained, loosing 42kg in four months.

Fuuu—

Kinda puts your goals into perspective! If she could do that, then I can do this!

And I will do this.

But, the most important thing for me, is that I am moving, and I am having FUN!

So don’t torture yourself with grueling excercise routines, slogging it out on the treadmill if you hate it, lifting weights if it bores you, doing yoga if you can’t sit still.

Go and do something you enjoy and get healthy!

I know I am~<3

Twenty-One by Twenty-One

I’ve been reading through CarlyLloyd and TaliaCarbis (to name a few names), and many other blogs, and it seems like every one has done these Number by Age lists~

Tying in with this, years ago, my Aunt and I, with a friend of her’s, made posters. Which we filled with all our hopes and goals for the immediate future. We sat around with magazines, and cut pictures out, and covered our pieces of cardboard with color.

I was younger then, and thought that the poster wouldn’t really ammount to anything.  A few years later, I visited my Aunt again, and saw that every goal I had placed upon that poster had been accomplished, it was like something magical had happened. Since then I had always wanted to do another, and right now, I think I need some magic. So today, my Aunt and I sat down, and made ours again, and you know what? I feel just a bit more magical.

Back to the list, I think it is a great idea, and I have always thought about what I want to do, and have never really done it. Recently, I have found the joy of making daily ‘to-do’ lists, and everything seems to get done. So I have decided to have a ‘To Do’ list for this year.

This is my 21 by 21.

1. Get a job after it has been so long from being retrenched.
2. Finish my Pastry and Baking TAFE course with credits.
3. Make it to my one year with James (piece of cake <3)
4. Get to below 100 kilos.
5. Take a short trip away with James.
6. Make something for Mum to have in hospital.
7. Do 120 hours of driving lessons, and pass my Red P’s.
8. Make my own blueberry cheesecake icecream.
9. Pay of my debt.
10. Save atleast 2000$
11. Start a scrapbook.
12. Clean out my closet and donate to charity.
13. Do something for myself at least once a fortnight.
14. Excercise at least three times a week.
15. Don’t forget about this blog!
16. Make my room, and my life, more about me.
17. Look pretty this summer.
18. Take more photos.
19. Learn to walk in heels for my 21st.
20. Write down every week what I have to be grateful for.
21. Think stressfully less, be happy more.

I hope to be able to finish this list by the time I turn 21, there is also one more goal I wish to complete, but that one is rather personal, and I won’t be putting it here.

Well, here’s to the next 365 days! Starting now, the deadline is the 4th August, 2011.

I’ve given myself some leeway since I can’t finish one or two of these goals unless a full and exact year has passed. The poster is now up on my wall, in a place where I can look at it every morning when I wake up and every night when I go to sleep.

Now, off we go!!
